Dear Global Education Office:
While in Australia for four weeks this summer, I studied island biogeography. We learned in a manner that was extremely hands on; discussions included why it was safe to swim with a freshwater crocodile but not with a saltwater crocodile, where cane toads come from, why they were brought to Australia, and why they're a danger to people and animals. The highlight of the trip was 3 days spent camping in Kakadu National Park, where I allowed a constrictor to curl up around my neck prior to going on a Jumping Crocodile Cruise! In Australia, I learned much about both people and animals that will help with my classes back at Duke, as well as in life.
