Dear Global Education Office:
Grüßen aus Berlin!
Berlin is truly a unique city, especially in terms of architecture. The highlight of the Duke Summer in Berlin Program was undoubtedly the Art and Architecture of Berlin course. The city is extremely diverse, from Soviet buildings to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). This was my favorite building, as it is massive and while inside, you can see almost 360 degrees around. However, the city ran out of money so the glass over the train tracks does not extend as long as intended!
After completing the summer program, I have decided to continue studying German and am in love with the country. Berlin is definitely a city I plan to work in one day. I would recommend the program to anybody. Students live in apartments in the alternative neighborhood of Kreuzberg and in that way you really feel that you are a part of the city. Berlin is very international, or "Multi-Kulti" as the Germans say, and has something for everyone. The only problem with the summer program is it is too short! I recommend staying for at least a semester to truly get to know the city. I could not be happier with my decision to study in Berlin.
