DUKE IN MADRID COMPUTING SERVICES

Internet Access - 3G MODEM cards: The Duke in Madrid program provides participants with a 3G modem Internet card for use with their laptop computers during program dates. Service is limited to Internet connection in Spain.

In order to make the best use of the program facilities, we strongly encourage participants to bring a laptop to Spain. Being able to use your own laptop for Internet at the university and at your home will provide you with the freedom to access email everywhere.

The traffic limit is 1 gigabyte per month, an amount that seems to be sufficient for checking email, and using Skype and other messenger providers. The service is included in the cost of the program, but students must be aware there is a penalty in the case of loss or theft.

The cards are compatible with Mac and PC machines. The only requirement is that your laptop have a USB connection. Participants will receive updated information during the orientation session in Madrid.

Printing: For printing and/or further use, students have access to a few computers in the Duke classroom at the university, and to computer labs at the host university.

Computer labs: You should be aware that university computer labs in Spain do not match the scale of what is available in the U.S. You will find a much smaller number of computers in the labs. They are open only during university business hours and are closed on weekends. More information will be provided during orientation in Madrid.
