PROGRAM-SPONSORED HEALTH INSURANCE Duke in Madrid students are covered by a Spanish health insurance policy that provides them with medical assistance during their stay in the program. At the beginning of the program, each student will receive a health insurance card that allows him/her to use medical services in Spain with no extra cost and no co-payment. Also, the students will have access to a 24-hour emergency phone number for medical assistance (assistance in English is available). Regarding health exclusions, students should be aware that the program health insurance policy does not provide coverage for pre-existing diseases or medical assistance due to road accidents or accidents resulting from the practice of some sports or activities considered to be hazardous. The terms of the insurance policy, plus additional health insurance information, will be included in the orientation package participants receive at the start of the program.
