APPLICATION DEADLINE - FALL: March 7
APPLICATION DEADLINE - SPRING: October 7

Eligibility: Applicants must be currently registered undergraduates majoring either in classics, classical history, or archaeology, or must be art history majors with strong classical interests and background. All applicants should have at least a B average and a background in Roman History is strongly advised. Priority for spaces goes to students who are undergraduates at one of the ICCS member colleges or universities. When space permits, qualified and currently registered undergraduate students from non-member institutions may be accepted at an additional fee.

Application process: Please follow the steps below to apply to the ICCS Rome program.

  1. Complete the Duke Abroad On-Line Application.
  2. Submit an official transcript of their completed university or college work.
  3. Submit recommendations on the provided forms (one from the ICCS representative and one from a professor in the student's major department).
  4. Submit a list of Latin and Greek works read (usually via on-line application).
  5. Submit a completed Dean's Permission form if you are a non-Duke student.

You will receive an email message detailing these requirements once you click the "submit" button on the on-line application. Your personal statement can be uploaded via the on-line application.

Participation requirements: Among other requirements for participation, students must comply with the items listed below.

  • Be working toward an undergraduate degree during the semester in Rome
  • Have a valid passport
  • Provide ten photographs upon acceptance to the program
  • Have U.S.-purchased medical insurance
  • Obtain an Italian student visa before arrival in Rome

Applications must be submitted no later than March 7, 2007 for the Fall 2007 Semester and October 7, 2007 for the Spring 2008 Semester. Announcements of selection are sent within four weeks of the application deadlines.
