Postcard from Abroad

Dear Global Education Office,

Greece is a land of enchantment. From the rugged calderas that line the shore of Santorini to the Acropolis, standing erect above the city of Athens, Greece never ceased to amaze me with its beauty. However, my favorite part of our trip was our final journey around the Greek islands.

This picture, taken from the island of Milos, perfectly captures the serenity that is characteristic of all the Greek islands. Having the opportunity to experience many of these islands during the last week of our trip allowed me to experience each island's own exclusive personality. From the local food to the different local industries, each island we visited developed a unique character. This character was further enriched by my interaction with the locals, through which I had a chance to see how people lived their lives in some of the remotest areas of the world.

Throughout the program I was constantly immersed in the history of the Athenian empire and had the chance to delve into the world of philosophy. I visited some of the most profound architectural wonders of the world and savored lots of delicious Greek cuisine! As a result of my journey, I have matured as a student and have made connections that will last a lifetime. By looking back in time, I discovered how the Athenians greatly contributed to our modern society and how Western reasoning continues to evolve out of great contributions from the past. This truly was a once in a lifetime experience and I can't wait to go abroad again!
