Duke University Global Education Office for Undergraduates

Program Schedule

Excursions

The program will make use of site specific resources, such as the Berlin Jewish Museum, and Pergamon Museum of Architecture, the Stasi Museum, the new museum of the former GDR (East Germany), etc. Day trips may include Dresden (city tour plus the renowned Zwinger art museums), Leipzig (the new BMW auto plant plus historical museum), the Bundestag (Federal Parliament Building), Potsdam (to see the castles and gardens), the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, and other destinations to be determined by the program leader.

Given its central location in Europe and status as a travel hub, Berlin is a great base for further travel throughout Europe.  Students typically take longer trips before or after the program, and shorter ones on some weekends during the session.

Travel Arrangements

Students are required to arrive at the program site by May 18, which means leaving the U.S. on the 17th. Students may leave the program site at any point on June 30. Students schedule their own travel arrangements to and from Berlin. Students need to make their own housing arrangements if they will be arriving before the program start date or leaving later than the program end date.
