Greg Bucher

Professor in Charge

A native of California with deep family roots in his current home town of Omaha, NE, Greg Bucher is an associate professor of Classical and Near Eastern Studies at Creighton University, having earned B.S. (Physics) and B.A. (Classical Studies) degrees at UC San Diego, and the Ph.D. (Classics) at Brown.

Though he was never a student at the Centro, he was an assistant professor there in 1998-1999 and an associate professor there in 2006-2007; he has also served time at the American Academy in Rome, the American School in Athens, and the Center for Hellenic Studies. He has just finished a three-summer appointment as director of the American Academy's Classical Summer School.

He has published on Roman historiography, Greek and Latin verse inscriptions, and Roman portraiture; he is currently at work on a commentary on Caesar's Civil War with Kurt A. Raaflaub and Cynthia Damon, and is also assembling a textbook on verse inscriptions. He has published, with Dr. Daniel D. Lydiatt, two articles on Renaissance anatomical studies in the journal Clinical Anatomy.
