Postcard from Abroad

Dear Office of Study Abroad:

I really loved studying abroad in St. Petersburg. My language skills grew exponentially there in a way that would not have been possible if I had only studied in America. With DukeEngage I was given an additional opportunity to extend my stay in Russia another month. After my school phase of study abroad ended, I continued practicing the language by volunteering at a blind center. I think getting involved in a local organization while abroad is a big advantage for refining language skills. My favorite part of my trip was the interactions I had with Russians. I loved hearing their perspective on the world and specifically about America. I would recommend to all students who study abroad to really make an effort to meet the locals and hear their stories. After studying abroad in St. Petersburg, I have decided to double major in Russian and Public Policy.
