Dr. Karanfil Soyhun, On-site Academic Director of Duke in Istanbul (Spring)

The Academic Director for the spring program, Dr. Karanfil (Kara) Soyhun, is a faculty member of the Department of Philosophy at Boğaziçi University. A native of Turkey, Dr. Soyhun earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Rochester, and has taught at a number of institutions in the United States including the University of Rochester, St. John Fisher College, the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Grinnell College, and the State University of New York-Oswego. In her research, she specializes in the Philosophy of Language and Applied Ethics, and has also written and lectured on Ethics more broadly, the Philosophy of the Mind, Logic, Epistemology, and the Philosophy of Feminism. As the Academic Director, Dr. Soyhun oversees all academic and residential aspects of the on-site program.
