Duke in New York Financial Markets and Institutions is a spring semester program for Duke
undergraduates that helps students gain a
deeper understanding of the financial services
industry. Through both coursework and cocurricular
activities, students gain first‐hand knowledge of the financial services arena and are able to become more familiar with the full scope of career opportunities.

Since 1996, Duke undergraduates have participated in the Duke in Los Angeles program in the spring to learn about cinema with local experts. In 2009, the focus and themes of the program were expanded to include the exploration of L.A. as the model for a new global culture. In addition to studying film and the U.S. culture industries, students now examine L.A. as a microcosm of contemporary globalization through perspectives in cultural studies, Africana studies, Chicano studies, visual studies, women's studies, art, border studies, and more. The semester also includes a course at the University of Southern California and an internship for Duke credit.
