Writing Recommendations
Through the online application system, students applying to Duke administered programs can submit a request for an instructor to complete a recommendation online. The types of recommendations and information requested may vary by program. If a student has submitted a request, the instructor will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to complete the online recommendation. An instructor cannot complete a recommendation online unless the applicant has submitted a request through the system.
If an instructor needs to enter the system after submitting a recommendation to see a list of their submitted recommendations, they may do so by clicking on "MyGlobalEd" in the upper right corner of any page on the GEO-U website, and then using the appropriate log in link located in the upper right corner.
If an instructor experiences difficulty in completing the online recommendation, they can contact the GEO-U for technical assistance. If the issue cannot be resolved, instructors may submit a hard copy recommendation to the GEO-U, or submit it by e-mail at globaled@duke.edu, and we will load it manually into the system.
If a student is applying to a non-Duke administered program, an instructor should consult the student for directions on how to complete their recommendation forms. With the exception of Oxford Direct, Recommendations for non-Duke programs are not processed through the Duke GEO-U.
