Eligibility: Duke University welcomes applicants from accredited colleges and universities. They may apply for either semester or for the full year, but applicants for the full-year program who will be juniors during the year abroad will receive priority. Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with a B average.

In the fall semester, a special program track is available for students with no previous German language study; other applicants for the fall must have completed one year of German language or have equivalent proficiency.

Spring semester students must have two years of proficiency, except for those on the special engineering track, who are only required to have one year of college-level German or the equivalent proficiency.
